Yelp:… I promise you it’s 100% truth.

My new yoga home. Thank you yoga garden teachers for being the most awesome and down-to-earth practitioners who constantly wow me with their knowledge, humility, humor and visible love for their work and students. You guys are amazing! It’s like pinch me, I must be dreaming this studio is super yogified in the best way possible.  Previously I was a Vinyasa, Hatha, and Anusara girl, and I still love those practices, but Iyengar blows my mind! Muscle is one thing, but disciplined attention to correct form take it to a whole new level – Ryan De Matteo is a fabulous Iyengar teacher.  Can’t say enough good things about Nathalie Cox, Isabelle Grotte, Brenna Geehan, and Megan Lipsett.  Wonderful! Their motto is ‘The only thing we care about more than yoga is you” and as a student of theirs, I promise you it’s 100% truth.

Yelp:…there is a sense of community…

I first went to Yoga Garden because it was in my neighborhood and they offered a free intro class. I really loved the class and took their 101 series, which was very affordable and a great way to get back into yoga.

I loved it so much that I signed up for work exchange so that I could take classes regularly. I really enjoy that they have a wide range of classes and teachers to experience. I also really appreciate that there is a sense of community (they just had a great weekend celebration).

I recommend checking out all the teachers and various styles. I’ve taken classes from several teachers over the past 4 months and have enjoyed them all. Every week, I try something new and really have had nothing but great experiences here.

Yelp: …exceeded my expectations.

As a beginner looking for a yoga studio close to home, this place exceeded my expectations.  Isabelle Grotte’s class is amazing and inspired me to sign up for the $49 month unlimited package.  The customer service is impressive and their online scheduling program makes signing up for classes stress-free.  Oh, and The Little Chihuahua is right next door – nom, nom, nom.

Yelp:…an amazing studio.

This is an amazing studio. There is a good variety of classes, the instructors are very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful and the studios are clean, well-equipped and relaxing. Having a studio like this is a motivator for me to actually show up for classes!

Yelp: Wow…I’ve never felt my spine open up.

My first class here was with Isabelle Grotte’s vinyasa 1-2 class. It brings elements of iyengar to it while still having a bit of the flow style that I’ve grown to love. Isabelle has a strong technical knowledge of the practice which is great for someone with my injuries.

The best part, though? Backbends over chairs. Wow…I’ve never felt my spine open up. Yes, I was freaking out a little bit since I wasn’t used to it. But, I could feel a real opening taking place and I loved every moment of it!

Yelp: really do like this place alot

I really do like this place alot…especially because it is so close to my home.
I am trying to become regular for the first time with yoga, and I think that Yoga Garden is a great place to build a practice.
The instructors are mellow, I don’t feel competition in the classes I have taken so far and the space feels like home.
Maura was great at helping me do poses correctly, she really paid attention to every detail, and I greatly appreciate it so as not to start any bad habits.
Isabelle is amazing and so welcoming, took her class last night and was sad when it ended. She has an incredibly calming energy, really helps you feel comfortable no matter your skill level and is fantastic at putting your mind out of the day to day worries and fully into your practice…
I will be back for more. Definitely.
It only takes 27 days to start a new habit…I think that this will be my favorite new habit.
Thank you ladies., see you tonight.

Yelp: "Yes! I like!"

With so many different yoga studios in the city, one is spoiled for choice…but the problem I have found is that so many have attitude or make one feel bad for not being a true yogi. I love yoga but have not been practicing for several years. I attended Estee’s vinyasa flow class and wow, she was great! Very laid back and everyone worked with where they were. I felt my body wake up and remember, “Yes! I like!” I left the class feeling totally relaxed and invigorated.

The other plus is the beautiful setting! Wow. The garden you walk through to get in, the beautifully lit rooms, so peaceful….I want to live there! I can’t wait to try out there other classes.

Yelp: Yoga Garden feels safe and homey

Yoga Garden feels safe and homey. It’s unassuming and unpretentious. It’s a tangibly positive space, from the big wooden door out on Divisadero, through the garden (expect to duck beneath ferns) on back to the studio proper. There’s a waiting area carpeted with jute or sisal or something similar, which feels amazing on bare feet. There are snacks and yoga props for sale. There are changing rooms. There are mats provided, so it’s no big deal if you forget yours..
