Keeping our joints strong and supple makes our bodies more tolerant of the stresses of daily living. The shoulders and hips are the hubs of movement to move in yoga asana, and keeping these hubs free is critical to joint and bone health.

Everyday stresses such a sitting for too long in the office, or the daily commute can cause compression and tightness in our bodies. Nerves in the neck and shoulder connect to our brain as sensory nerves from the heart, so taking care of neck and shoulders improves circulatory function and overall health. Hip flexors, extensors and rotators add mobility to walking, so freedom in the pelvis can decrease issues in the knees, feet and back.

Maintaining strength and flexibility in your hips and shoulders improves everyday life, and lessens injury by keeping joints, ligaments and muscle mobile. Creating balance in the hubs of movement for the torso creates ease and strength in the body. She teaches throughout Asia, Canada and the United States. A yoga teacher’s teacher, her lineage is a virtual who’s who of American yoga masters including Judith Hanson Lasater, Patricia Walden and Erich Schiffmann.

 

She left careers in fashion and corporate banking to follow her love and passion for Yoga, and her expertise has arisen from over two decades of practice. A favorite of students of all levels due to the extraordinary energy and life experiences she brings to her classes.
