| Mysore Practice | Level 1-3 | The Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga method is taught in the tradition of K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. As in Mysore, the class format is guided self-practice: students practice the Ashtanga sequences they have been previously taught by the instructors individually, at their own pace. Classes are largely silent so that students can tune into the sound of their own breath. Occasionally instruction is given verbally – especially when new postures are introduced or for new students, but more often it comes in the form of hands-on adjustments meant to correct, facilitate, or deepen postures. Classes are not held on full and new moon days, and women should not come to class during the first 3 days of their menstrual cycle. Practice guides are available in class. | ||

Moms are encouraged to bring their babies, who will remain in the room during practice. Mothers usually need to attend to their child’s needs during the class, and this not considered a disruption. This class is a great opportunity for new moms to reconnect with their pre-natal community and to get back out into the world after birth.
