4 Reasons Why Every Yoga Teacher Needs to Take a Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training

Many women get attached to their yoga teachers and prefer to continue going to their classes instead of trying out a prenatal yoga class. As a teacher, it’s best for you to know exactly how to care for them during each trimester. Learn the 4 reasons why we think every yoga teacher needs to take a prenatal training to better assist their students!

1  Safety

Yoga is invaluable to moms during their pregnancy. It improves sleep, reduces stress and anxiety, while also increasing the strength, flexibility, and endurance of muscles that are needed for childbirth. As a yoga teacher, you create a safe space for your students’ practice. You encourage them to work to their edge and push themselves to their line. By taking a Prenatal and Postnatal YTT, you will learn exactly how to care for the prenatal women in your studio classes, in addition, what poses help women during this time and what poses to avoid.

2 Adaptation

Pregnancy is a wonderful experience, but it’s also not all rainbows and butterflies. Women experience fatigue, nausea, and the growth of their bellies (which can get pretty uncomfortable). Learn how to help your students be more comfortable with some prenatal tips and tricks, like how to incorporate the use of props in your studio classes!

3  Grow your relationship with your students

Let’s face it, (a good amount of) women love yoga; you could even say they dominate the practice. So, you are bound to have some moms and future moms coming in at all stages of life. This training provides you with the knowledge to help them through this transition, and also gives you the skills to help build their trust in you as a teacher.

4  Knowledge of the Prenatal and Postnatal Body

Though a 200-hour yoga teacher training covered human anatomy, there is much more to learn about the anatomy during and after pregnancy. Advance your anatomy with a Prenatal and Postnatal YTT, to learn more about the female body and the transformation it goes through during pregnancy.

Alexandra Rossi teaches Yoga Garden’s Prenatal and Postnatal trainings which are offered twice a year.
