5 Reasons Why You Should Retreat in Costa Rica

5 Reasons Why You Should Retreat in Costa Rica

There is nowhere quite like Costa Rica. With 25 national parks, 58 wildlife refuges, 32 protected zones, 11 forest reserves, and 8 biological reserves, Costa Rica truly cares about conservation and nature.

Playa Grande, Costa Rica is a tranquil beach community located on the Pacific Coast. This quaint town offers secluded coasts, a national park, rich forests, as well as a beautiful glass-enclosed yoga shala. It is also the location for our Yoga, Meditation, and Beach Retreat March 30th-April 4th, 2020!

Below are 5 reasons why you should join us for this incredible Costa Rica Retreat!

1. Spacious and Quiet

Our retreat will expose you to the beauty of quiet, and in some instances, even silence. During free times, explore the beach, take a stroll through the forest, soak in the pools, go for a bike ride around town, or simply relax with a book on your hammock. If you are looking to unplug and restore, this is the place. Playa Grande is not very developed. In fact, you will only find a handful of hotels and restaurants. The people who do own homes enjoy the serenity that this place offers, so there is a hush about the neighborhood.

2. Perfect Mix of Peaceful Beach and Forest

Playa Grande’s coast is miles long. The beach feels like a retreat within itself, and there are typically little to no people around. A lush forest lines the path to the ocean from our venue, The RipJack Inn. This jungle forest is home to vegetation, exotic birds, crabs, monkeys, and other animals. With nature surrounding you, deepen and connect to your meditation and yoga practices.

3. Nearby Day Trips

Playa Grande is far enough away from the noise of a city, but close enough to enjoy intriguing day trips. Visit the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, soak in the hot springs, take a boat on the estuary and visit the town of Tamarindo, or go zip lining. As part of your retreat package, we’ll enjoy a group sunset sail from Playa Flamingo, a neighboring beach. During this all day excursion, you can snorkel or simply chill on the boat and enjoy the Pacific.

4. Leatherback Turtle Care and Conservation

Leatherback sea turtles are the oldest living reptiles in the world. Playa Grande is home to The National Park of Las Baulas (The Leatherbacks). This park protects the beaches of Playa Grande, and is the nesting site for the turtles. A rule has been set that all hotels in Playa Grande need to be built back away from the beach. This is because lights and other activity from hotels would halt the turtles from coming to nest. If you haven’t see a leatherback sea turtle in real life, this could be your chance!

5. Surf’s Up

Yoga and surfing compliment one another quite well. Surfing can be an incredibly meditative experience. People travel from all over the world to experience the power of the surf in Playa Grande. You can rent your own board or take lessons for all levels. Experience a private or small group of up to 4 people for lessons.
