Advanced Yoga Clinic: Handstands – Alignment and AcroYoga Approaches

August 5 @ 1:45 pm - 4:45 pm

with Max Kopeikin

Adho mukha vrksasana, or Handstand/Full Arm Balance, is one of the most beneficial poses in the entire asana repertoire; however, it really needs to be done in a way that is healthy and sustainable. Good alignment and preparation means no shoulder pain, no wrist injuries and no dangerous falls.

This workshop is designed to provide you with tools for a healthy and lifelong handstand practice. We will start with a very fiery practice, to work on Handstands from a variety of approaches – alignment-centered yoga, acrobatics and AcroYoga. This involves some partner work. Max will offer calibrations to help people “stuck on the wall” to float off or even practice in the middle of the room and away from the wall.

At the end of the workshop, we will use restorative yoga to undo some of the physical stress from handstand training and practice.

Advanced Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced levels are welcome. Some experience with yoga is recommended to get the most out of this course.

Prerequisite: Must be able to kick up to handstand against the wall.

**This Advanced Yoga Clinic is not suitable for people brand new to yoga or working with serious injuries.
