Aromatherapy and Yoga for Babies and Toddlers

September 30 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

with Katrin Kuttner
Scent is deeply connected to memory; the scents you surround yourself and your children with are imprinted on their earliest memories. In this workshop, you will develop a finer breath and more delicate sense of smell as required for the careful application of essential oils during early childhood.
A famous lullaby by Brahms mentions two wonderful scents used for babies and small children over the centuries:
“Lullaby and goodnight,
With roses bedight,
With cloves o’er spread
Is baby’s wee bed.
Lay thee down now and rest,
May thy slumber be blessed.”
Teacher Katrin Kuttner has incorporated these and other essential oils and meditations into her daughter’s rituals from birth. She named her daughter ‘Lavender’ like the wonderfully scented flower! In this workshop we will with special care explore which aromatherapy and meditations are great for your little ones and which yogic strategies can help in challenging situations. Learn about breathing (pranayama) with small children, helping them when they cannot sleep or do not feel well. Experience why inspiring scents and breathing practices are important for learning and growing.
  • Discover how to evoke comfort and handle discomfort for your child using aromatherapy
  • Try out what scents work for your individual child and learn how to make compresses
  • Take home a personal scented bag to enjoy with your little one
