Embodied Anatomy: Fascia

A New Paradigm of Connection 12-3 PM
This portion of the workshop will introduce fascia via its many structures, four main properties, various functions, and interconnection to other biological systems. We will look at the concept of biotensegrity, and the elegance of the spiraling, wrapping layers of fascia that create our physical form.
Application to Embodied Practice 3-6 PM
This portion of the workshop will present basic anatomy of the spine, hips & shoulders, and an introduction to the primary fascial lines that transmute force through our structure. We will investigate how to train resilience in the body, the tissue and the nervous system as well as best practices for moving and teaching with an understanding of the holistic anatomy of our fascial system.
Michelle ‘Nayeli’ Bouvier is a Prana Vinyasa™ Yoga Teacher Trainer, Certified Yoga Therapist, Hoopdance pioneer, Advanced Certified AcroYoga Teacher, Thai Massage Practitioner, and dancer devoted to the art and science of embodiment (definitely a body nerd!). Teaching everywhere since 2000, Michelle has accumulated nearly 4000 hours of training, specializing in the sustainability of the body for yoga and for all we do in life!
Grateful for her many teachers, Michelle has been most influenced by her depth of training with Shiva Rea, Tias Little, John Friend, and Tim Miller (yoga), Christopher Wallis and Christopher Tompkins (Tantrik philosophy and practice), Frey Faust, Gil Hedley, and Tom Meyers (anatomy and movement). Michelle continues to study Ayurveda and The Axis Syllabus (a lexicon of principles derived from anatomy, physics, and biomechanics, which teach safety, efficiency, and sustainability- applicable to all human movement).
