Trauma-Informed: Dismantling Cultural Appropriation

September 29

With Divya Balakrishnan

In this module, guest teacher Divya Balakrishnan will discuss the subject of cultural appropriation in the modern yoga world from an Indian-American perspective, and the damage that this appropriation can perpetuate. Divya will offer reflections and observations from her own personal journey, and share tools on how today’s yoga teachers can help to dismantle the cultural appropriation of yoga, and how to better honor yoga’s roots. She’ll also lead participants in a short, trauma-informed mudra meditation session.
