Holiday Self-Care For Your Spirit

In her final installment of Holiday Self-Care,  Sachi Doctor is back to share three sustainable practices for taking care of your spirit during this busy time of year.

Sustainable Self-Care — Spirit:

  1. Honor your individuality. Just as we all have a unique fingerprint, Ayurveda teaches us that each person has a particular pattern of energy—an individual combination of physical, mental and emotional characteristics—which comprises one’s unique constitution (dosha). Taking time to notice the things that make you feel your best empowers you to embrace what works, regardless of what that looks like on paper.
  2. Take it day by day. The years of our life do not arrive all at once; they greet us day by day, with each sunset- a reset. Unacknowledged, holiday events and experiences (and accompanying emotions) can build up, but with awareness we can choose to release and like the sun, reset each day.
  3. Create space for yourself. Most of us know from experience that we function much better when we have a little time for ourselves time each day. And the more we have to do, the more we need that solitary, quiet time for the day ahead. As a result it is during the busiest times that we benefit most from meditation. If more time in meditation means less time feeling anxious and overwhelmed, then it’s certainly worth 5-10 minutes.
