Hey, I’m David Nelson, the owner of Yoga Garden SF/MOXIE Yoga. I’m standing on this corner of 18th and Douglass Streets in San Francisco because it was here  in 1998 Darren Main and I started our first yoga studio. We called it Castro Yoga to convey that we were here to share the benefits of yoga with the people of this neighborhood.

When we acquired our building on Divisadero Street, Castro Yoga became Yoga Garden. Since that time, Yoga Garden has become known for teaching and guiding yoga with authenticity, integrity, and individual attention. Yoga Garden has become more than a yoga studio—it is a community of yoga professionals, students, friends, and neighbors that support each other in their daily lives. That community has prevailed over the most challenging two years of our 24 year history.

Today, we are joining resources with Moxie yoga, which has 6 locations in some of San Francisco’s  most iconic neighborhoods. Adding to our NOPA/Haight location we will be in Nob Hill, the Mission, Bernal, Noe Valley, the Richmond and the Sunset. Each of these locations will offer what Yoga Garden is: a welcoming community, a diversity of yoga styles taught with integrity and authenticity, and the highest standards of professional competence.

While we are actively working to build this vision for all seven locations, please know that our commitment to our original mission has not changed: to share the benefits of a mindful physical practice with our neighbors—we now have more neighbors!
