This month we welcomed a new teacher to the Yoga Garden SF team: Brandi Zorzy!

Tell us about yourself! What are some things that your students might not know?

I love making things with my hands! I have worked with metal for a few years to make jewelry.

How did you become interested in yoga?

There was a (short-lived) studio up the street from me, and I honestly can’t remember how I came to take my first class. But after that first time, I was completely hooked. It felt like I was remembering something I had done many times before.

Tell us about your yoga journey. What style did you start in and with whom do you study now?

After the studio near my house closed, I didn’t re-start yoga as a regular practice again until 2008 when I was living and working in New York City. I was able to settle in to a daily power-vinyasa flow, and in addition to that regular practice, had access to some amazing teachings in the lineages of Jivamukti and Sri Dharma Mittra, among others. I tried any and all yoga styles that I could find. I began to be super curious about the deep healing and I was doing and self-awareness and self-love I was cultivating, and the portal to magic that yoga provides. I began a more intense studentship, which led me to getting my teacher training. Since then, my practice has evolved quite a bit. When I moved to San Francisco in 2013, Bhakti captured my heart, and I practiced and trained in that as well. Currently I practice Bhakti Flow Yoga, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, and meditation. My yoga teachers are Stephanie Snyder, Jason Crandall, Rusty Wells, and Tias and Surya Little.

Describe your teaching style. What can folks expect when they attend your class?

My classes are heartfelt, thoughtful, meditative flow style with plenty of space for levity. Classes are underpinned with the alignment and philosophical principles of yoga for a fun and sweaty moving meditation.

Any exciting projects or plans on the horizon?

Sure do. I’ll keep ya posted 😉

Anything else you’d like to share with the Yoga Garden SF community?
