This month we welcomed a new teacher to the Yoga Garden SF team: Phoenix Ha! She regularly subs classes, so keep an eye out for her name on the schedule.
How did you become interested in yoga?
I found yoga when I was 17, but I didn’t commit to a regular practice until my early 20’s. Yoga has played a pivotal role in my spiritual journey. It’s reminded me how my body is a pathway to all that is around me
I started with vinyasa and power, then fell in love with alignment based vinyasa. I also love yin, as a dancer it’s crucial for me to take care of my joints and also I love the deep meditation that comes with yin. I am a daily meditation practitioner, I also teach mindfulness classes and restorative yoga.
It’s so important to me to align the body in order to cultivate vitality and awareness for our vessels. In my classes expect detailed body and breath cues, staying in poses long enough to sink into the space. Yoga to me is not about escaping, but embracing. To embrace the present moment with breath as our tool.
I am performing at a few festivals on the west coast! I am also holding an online course on cultivating self love.
Happy to be back as an alum to share my passion for movement and flow with the community. It’s good to be back in San Francisco.
