Thanksgiving RISE Benefit Classes!

Thanksgiving day, all classes are donation-based and 100% of proceeds will benefit  Rise Yoga for Youth

RISE Yoga for Youth, is a non-profit organization offering a comprehensive education in Hatha yoga for San Francisco teens, including instruction in physical postures, mindfulness, and breathing practices, as well as a series of life skills workshops on non-violence, self-esteem, anger management, conflict resolution, nutrition, drugs and healthy relationships.

Teachers are donating their time to host special Thanksgiving-themed classes. All classes are donation based ($20 minimum donation at the door).

Practice for a cause and bring friends and family around the mat. Can’t make it? You can still donate! Please stop by the studio anytime to make your donation, or give our studio a call, we’ll be happy to assist you.

Wherever your travel plans take you this holiday, remember that no matter what day it is — the Garden gates are open.

THANKSGVING SCHEDULE:

SunRISE & Shine 8:00 – 9:15 AM with Alyssa Byrd 
Strengthen inside-out warming up with vibrational breath & dynamic spine exercises, while progressing into a fluid vinyasa practice. The session will begin and close with a short free-write session, moving meditation and chanting.

 


Content & Full-filled Vinyasa 9:00-10:15 AM with Meredith Holt 

In this pre-Thanksgiving Vinyasa class, students will explore Santosha, the second Niyama of Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga. Santosha is gratitude’s more subtle sister, as she gently invites us to see clearly what is in THIS moment. She asks us to soften the grip on our attachments and desires for more and truly awaken to the abundance and harmony already in the world. It is only with contentment, or an “okay-ness” that we can then walk through life truly giving thanks and compassion to ourselves and the people, animals, and land around us.


Gratitude Flow & Meditation 9:30 – 10:45 AM with Liz Andolong

Start with a meditation to get deep into your body and then move through a Vinyasa Align class to bring the intention into your body.

Practice will close with writing a gratitude card which can be mailed, or shared with whomever you are grateful for!

Thanksgiving Fun Flow 10:30 – 11:45 AM with Lisa William

Make time to stretch, breathe and care for yourself and your community through contribution! This class will include heart-opening back bends, invigorating twists and pranayama to stimulate the digestive juices and create space for the abundance of Thanksgiving festivities. This is an all levels class.
