Mariah Frye

Owner of Stone Turtle Yoga

The more time that passes, and the more teacher trainings I see cropping up everywhere, the more grateful I feel for my experience at YGSF. It was a transformational time, and has directed my life time and again. So, thank you!

Sonya Genel

Yoga Teacher San Francisco

I have been teaching yoga for almost 10 years. I found the 300 Hour program with Jean was tremendously beneficial for review and refinement as well as introducing new tools for my teaching. It was an opportunity to deepen my own practice and I am really grateful for the wonderful community here.

Maren Zweifler

Yoga Teacher Austin, TX

The program felt both formative and co-creative, a unique and deeply reflective time when I learned about the subtler aspects of yoga, became more at ease with teaching and learned about the history and philosophy of yoga in an organic, naturally evolving way.

Cynthia Koch

Yoga Teacher San Francisco

This program taught me the science of this practice. This program offered me a formula to understand how to heal myself and bring this power, this gift of connection and awareness through my words, actions and teaching. I am forever grateful.

Paulina Julian

Yoga Teacher Mexico

The program allowed each of us to take our own personal routes of study, to be supported individually in honing our own talents and refining our particular skills as teachers. The studio and community environment make it easy to focus and create a retreat like atmosphere in the midst of our everyday lives.

Shannon Handa

Traveling Yoga Teacher

I can’t thank my teachers enough, for being so generous with their knowledge, and supporting me in becoming the teacher I am today. Yoga Garden will always be like a second home to me.

Can I take my elective hours at multiple locations?

To be certified as an RYT-500 through Yoga Alliance, you must complete your 300-hour training at one school. This school must be certified as an RYS-300 or RYS-500. Yoga Garden SF has this certification.

What if my 200-hour yoga teacher training was not Yoga Alliance registered?

Some students come to Yoga Garden SF’s 300-hour yoga teacher training from a 200-hour training that is not an RYS-200. You cannot be certified as an RYT-500 teacher unless you have registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200. These students often enroll through Yoga Garden SF’s renowned PRO-ELITE membership, and take their 200-hour and 300-hour certification in the same year. Every 200-hour program is different; the knowledge gained at YGSF will exponentially help you in your career as a yoga teacher.

I don’t want certification. Can I take a Core Module?

No, Core Modules are reserved for candidates of RYT500 certification. You must be a registered RYT200 to take these programs.

How long does it take to complete the 300-hour training?

You can complete your 300-hour training in as little as six months, and as long as three years. For international students, and for those who wish to study in an intense immersion format, the Core Modules are offered every year in August back-to-back. Otherwise, we offer two part-time schedules each year. Your elective choices depend on your time, and your interest. We offer a variety of options for the 120 necessary flexible elective hours, year round.

How much does it cost?

The 300-hour training can be purchased as a-la-carte items, where each module and elective is purchased individually over time. Our Pro-Elite Membership allows students to study anything and everything YGSF has to offer for $425/month. The latter choice is by far the best value.

Do you offer Work Study?

No, our staff are professionals; however, we will make every effort to work with your budget to make your training possible. This training is both a path of personal transformation and professional training, and we ask that you make the financial commitment to prioritize it and make it the important next step in your personal and professional life.

Our Pro-Elite Membership is designed to make this professional training an affordable budget item, so that you can fully and freely engage in the intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical dimensions of the practice and our community.

What is the difference between 500, 300, and 200 hour trainings?

Yoga Alliance is an International industry association of yoga professionals that registers members and member schools that comply with basic standards of experience and training. These registrations are recognized world-wide for standardizing minimum requirements and are frequently the basis of employment decisions. Detailed descriptions of standards for each program can be found at Yoga Alliance.
RYT200 is our Basic Yoga Teacher Training
RYT300 is our Advanced Yoga Teacher Training
You must be RYT200 to take RYT300, after which you may register as RYT500, the most advanced registration.
In addition, we offer certifications (and Yoga Alliance registration) for RPYT (prenatal yoga teacher) and RCYT (children’s yoga teacher)

What if I need to miss part of the training? ?

You may miss up to 8 hours (or 1 day) of a Core Module in order to receive credit as part of our 300 hour program. Make-ups must be scheduled either in a future training ($50 per session/day) or as a private session with your teacher ($125/hr).

Is the deposit refundable ?

Yes, the deposit is refundable for up to 14 days prior to the start of the program, full payment of the program due at that time and is non-refundable.

Credit
Only students who complete all 50 hours of each Core Module will receive credit for the module. If you do not complete all 50 hours, you will not receive credit and will not receive a refund.

Certificates (and by association, confirmation of RYT-300 status through Yoga Alliance) will only be granted to students who complete all hours of the program and/or all make-ups required.

Attendance
Students may only miss up to 8 hours (or 1 day) of the program. If you miss more than 8 hours of training, you are welcome to continue the program, but will not receive credit. If you would like to receive credit for the Core Module you will need to take the training again at a discounted price of $695. You are still responsible for full payment of the first Core Module.

In certain cases, you may count any hours taken as elective hours toward your 300-hour certificate, provided that you take a subsequent Core Module.

Attendance is mandatory for the first two days of any core module. During that time, essential course pedagogy and introductory concepts are taught that are necessary for the remainder of the program. If you expect that you will miss one of the first two days of a Core Module, we recommend that you wait to start a different Core Module until you know you can be present for these times.

Any minutes lost due to tardiness are recorded and must be made up if amounting to 50 minutes or more. Classes start and end on time and you are responsible for the material and minutes missed at the beginning of class.

Make-Ups
Students who have missed up to 8 hours of the training may make up the hours in two ways:

1) Schedule a private session with your instructor ($125/hour) Depending on the content of the missed coursework, make-up time ratios may vary from 1:1 to 1:4.

2) Join a future training for the day(s) you missed, as space allows ($50 administrative fee per instance)

All make-ups must be completed within one year of your training. Because program content varies by instructor, you must contact your teacher to find out what exactly you have missed. Depending on what your teacher requests of you, you may be responsible for completing an assignment (writing an essay, sequencing a class, etc.) on the content missed.

Make-ups may only be requested through the core module make-up form.

Cancellations
Cancellations are accepted up to 14 days before the start of a training; if you cancel, the cost of the program will be refunded to you. If you withdraw from a program 13 days or fewer before the program start date, you will surrender your spot in the program and forfeit the entire program cost.

Attendance
A minimum of 90% attendance is required for all multi-day programs, unless drop-in days are specifically offered in the program description. Students who register for or attend less than 90% of a program may not receive credit for the hours that they did attend and may not receive a certificate. In the event of any absence, missed hours must be made up to receive credit for the program.

ProElite Cancellations and Fees
ProElite students who withdraw from a program less than 14 days before the start will be charged a late cancellation fee of 50% of the full program cost, as per the ProElite contract. Pro-Elite students who register but do not attend a program will also be charged the late cancellation fee.
